چکیده
A diverse array of secondary metabolites have been isolated and characterized from marine-derived fungi. The structures and biological activities of these metabolites are presented. Additionally, some basic principles of mycology are covered. Overall, 273 structures are presented and the review contains 162 references

Current Status and Future Prospects of Marine Natural Products (MNPs) as Antimicrobials
The marine environment is a rich source of chemically diverse, biologically active natural products, and serves as an invaluable resource in the ongoing search for novel antimicrobial compounds. Recent advances in extraction and isolation techniques, and in state-of-the-art technologies involved in organic synthesis and chemical structure elucidation, have accelerated the numbers of antimicrobi...
متن کاملReview Paper-marine Microbial Bioactive Compounds
Oceans have borne most of the biological activities on our planet. A number of biologically active compounds with varying degrees of action, such as anti-tumor, anti-cancer, anti-microtubule, anti-proliferative, cytotoxic, photo protective, as well as antibiotic and antifouling properties, have been isolated to date from marine sources. The marine environment also represents a largely unexplore...
متن کاملGrowth of marine fungi on polymeric substrates
BACKGROUND Marine fungi are a diverse group of opportunistic and obligate organisms isolated from marine environments. These fungi are now often included in screens for novel metabolites, while less attention has been given to their production of hydrolytic enzymes. Most enzymes derived from marine microorganisms have been obtained from marine bacteria. The enzymes produced by marine fungi may ...
متن کاملActinomycetes from Sediments in the Trondheim Fjord, Norway: Diversity and Biological Activity
The marine environment represents a largely untapped source for isolation of new microorganisms with potential to produce biologically active secondary metabolites. Among such microorganisms, Gram-positive actinomycete bacteria are of special interest, since they are known to produce chemically diverse compounds with a wide range of biological activities. We have set out to isolate and characte...
متن کاملBioactive Compounds from Marine Bacteria and Fungi
Marine bacteria and fungi are of considerable importance as new promising sources of a huge number of biologically active products. Some of these marine species live in a stressful habitat, under cold, lightless and high pressure conditions. Surprisingly, a large number of species with high diversity survive under such conditions and produce fascinating and structurally complex natural products...
